Setting a standard isn't wrong. Holding every state accountable would help to decrease the disparity in our educational system. Now should states be able to expand on what educational programs they implement to meet the quota? Yes. Every child deserves the same education regardless of their school district. People move and buy houses in neighborhoods just to send their child to adequate schools. What about the families who can't afford to move? They are stuck with the school and ultimately their children will learn from the school in that district regardless of the education being bad or "good". Create a standard for public schooling to be on par with the top private and charter schools. Help the future to be academically sound instead of continuing to impair their education.
