Here’s my ideal medical coverage: 1) get rid of crazy malpractice awards; or any malpractice awards. Allow doctors to be rated on places like Yelp, so consumers know what they are getting themselves into when engaging a doctor. 2) force full price transparency on ALL services doctors and hospitals offer. 3) allow for tax sheltered medical savings accounts to cover routine check ups and small things like poison ivy control, flus, booboos, etc. 4) make hospitals and smaller emergency medical centers be tax exempt. 5) eliminate the quota the AMA places on the number of doctors it will license. 6) allow insurance companies to be truly competitive, not only in insurance services they offer, but also in competing across state line. 7) enforce the preexisting conditions coverage rule — if a woman is pregnant and wants to switch doctors, she should be able to, for example. Most of these measures will encourage free markets and will make medical care become affordable again, without getting the government involved in administering health care.
