While we should maintain strong military DEFENSE forces, our government should be the world leader in promoting peaceful means of addressing foreign conflicts. To do this properly and effectively, we need to get our own house in order regarding conflict among our own people. While the likelihood of this bill’s passage is presently nil, it should be on the record, and resubmitted annually until it is fully considered by both House and Senate. We need to transform our governing goals toward achieving REAL peace, not just absence of war. Our goals at this time should be 1) to limit the destruction of the national values that our government is founded on for the duration of the Trump administration’s time in office; 2) to identify and pursue through legislation the strengthening of our oversight of forces that are factually established to be destructive to our democratic republic, and 3) bring our people together in supporting governmental changes that establish a clear leadership role for our country in the development of a more peaceful national presence in the world. This bill, as currently written, could serve as a focal point for the objectives we need to pursue to achieve these goals. I urge my Senators and Representative to vote in favor of it whenever it comes before Congress.
