Approving this bill is an appropriate response while deliberations over border security occur. A government shutdown during a turbulent moment in the economy is destructive. The Republican initiative for a border wall is unreasonable when there is security initiatives that are vastly more constructive and funding to make the intake process more efficient and effective would dramatically improve this situation when compared to a border wall. I am disappointed and disturbed my David McKinley’s insistence on perpetuating a partisan battle- especially when such appropriations for a wall have been proven ineffective.
I push for a vote on the appropriations bill that has passed the house and moved to the senate. In addition, I hope my Republican representatives consider the destructive nature of their decision to continue partisanship when WVians are not impacted, nor would see any direct benefit of a border security wall.
