Remember that part of the 2nd amendment that says "the right of the people to keep and bear only certain types of arms?" Neither do I. The 2nd Amendment is the most clearly stated right that we have been given. Now then, on the subject of "...being necessary to the security of a FREE State..." - doesn't the government choosing which guns we are and are not allowed to have (i.e. an outright ban on assault rifles) kind of defeat the constitutional purpose stated above? In war time, if you were facing an opposing force and you came upon their weapons depot, wouldn't you also disarm them? That'd sure make the victory a lot swifter, yeah? In the end, the Federal government, however large it may be these days, was made and is ran by humans. Humans are naturally corrupt. There must be a balance of force between Federal government and the general population or else tyranny is inevitable.
