I am a volunteer fire fighter from Wisconsin. I have had training for this very scenario. The training was called Crude By Rail, offered at the Security and Emergency Response Training Center (SERTC) in Colorado, which is partnered with the Association of American Railroads and the DOT. This is vital information to have in the event of a derailment involving crude oil. Many people would be shocked at the amount of oil being transported through their communities. If an oil car derailment happens in a community, the difference between being properly trained and untrained can have substantial consequences. There are many principals that must be understood when working Crude By Rail incidents that aren't taught in standard fire training. Don't believe me? Search Google and YouTube for "BLEVE". BLEVE's are preventable if responders are properly trained.
