This puts the burden of enforcing immigration law on private individuals who just happen to sell guns. It makes sense to make gun sellers responsible for public safety, thus they have the responsibility of doing background checks. But since there is no proven connection between immigration status and public safety, businesses should not bear the extra cost of enforcing politically motivated immigration laws. We have federal agencies who are supposed to do that. They need to start doing their job instead pocketing taxpayer money and then of pushing the work off to private citizens or to local law enforcement.
