The argument that minimum wage jobs aren't meant to provide a living wage are ridiculous. When you're supporting a family (or even just yourself) on a minimum wage salary, it is nearly impossible to find the time and money necessary to advance your skills to get a better job. Do you think your cashiers at McDonald's have their dream job? Or do you think they wish they could be doing something different? Raising the minimum wage to a living wage would provide the necessary resources for career advancement while combating income inequality (no country has a higher CEO to bottom-tier worker pay ratio than the U.S.).
