So many problems with this proposed legislation. First, how many hackers can you possible hire for a total of $100,000? If you have 4 hackers, then you can only pay them $25,000 a piece. Not going to get great hackers for that money. Second, given the low salary, who would apply for these job(s)? Likely, it would be hackers. Giving any outside hackers access to the network, server, and password workings to any outside entities -- likely to share their experiences and gained information on the Dark Web -- hazardous at best and disastrous at worst. Lastly, the few staff that could be employed is no match for the computer systems complexity of the Treasury Department and no one-shot pilot program will resolve these issues nor give government officials any immediate clues as to how to solve them.
