This minimum wage hike is nominal--no where near what working Americans need to, not only, provide food & shelter for themselves & their families, but also other necessities such as health, dental, etc; how it's a start. To all the small business owners complaining about how your business will suffer if you are forced to pay the people you employ, who provide services & products your business sells, stop the whining &, the lying! I'm a former big law equity partmer, now owner of a small firm with 3 offices in 3 different areas of the country &, employee, receptionists, legal assistants, paralegals & attorneys in each. My receptionists ares paid much more than this nominal hike proposes, as they should be; they are working on support my firm. We elected to become business owners; no one forced us! If you are a small business owner who isn't a sole proprietor, you should &, need to pay the people who perform the service or create the product decent wages! Our employer provide either the product or the service &, it's our job as business owners to increase revenue by attracting new clients &/or customers. So if you believe your employees are not with $6 additional dollars, are lazy, whining etc., you either made very poor hiring decisions or, you're whining, lying & lazy, need to buck up.& do your job--build you business!
