Unions are what make for good pay and conditions. Our most productive and successful time as a country were the post war years when labor was strong. Since Reagan there has been a orchestrated attack on anything union with management placed on the honor system to look after the workers. It has been devastating to wages, productivity, and employment with manufacturers closing plants and worsening pay and conditions. People operating under the railway labor act don’t even have the ability to strike anymore when things go sour. Any worker should have the ability and protection to withdraw labor if they are grieved until such time as management makes good on the grievance.
