If the alternative is to have them live and work in fear of deportation then of course they should have a path to citizenship. I just don’t see the logic in sending someone away who has been contributing positively to society/economy for majority of their life (lived an American Life). Sure; the ones who are here just to take advantage of the system should not be allowed to stay, but that is not the story of the whole. If the goal is to build a better America and we have people here who are contributing to that; why force them away from lives they built from the circumstance they’ve been in since children. It takes courage to step into the light and say,” I am here illegally but I want to make myself better through school or work”. As they become more skilled they fill needed positions and earn more which means more taxes. Why buckle our own country in the process if we are in control of the decision?
