The Republicans like to focus on the sensational rather focusing on the problem right under their nose. They have for eight years waisted time opposing the idea of universal healthcare. But what happens at public hospitals during flu season. Due to massive demand the staff are over burdened and wait times skyrocket because people who don't have health insurance end up seeking care at the hospital's emergency rooms. Here the Republicans are doing that song and dance again. Ignore "Joe the Plumber" but ensure their rich buddies get coverage and the thing is their rich buddies would get care regardless, they can afford to pay. If there is ever a natural or man made disaster, if a flu epidemic can overwhelm the hospital emergency rooms and staff what do our elected representatives think they can do if there is a real disaster even if there were no limits to resources? The Republican Congress won't even take the first step to support a health population, universal healthcare. AliceC is right take care of the basics first. We need more doctors, nurses and reasonable access to healthcare.
