This is a prejudicial policy that subjects the down-on-their luck to needless hassle and embarrassment. Are they not needy if they are drug dependent? Will this testing be used to refer people for treatment, or merely to punish? Is the common good served by denying benefits to people who test positive? What is the point here? Just to ferret out who's deserving and who's not? Are we so confident drug use is the relevant criterion there?
