I know the United States is not technically a democracy, but it definitely should be. The whole idea of "tyranny of the majority" is absurd in the modern world and was only feared by the founding fathers during a time in which a mere .5% of the population had a college education. So at the time it was quite plausible that the majority of citizens in the United States were not, in fact, capable of making informed political decisions. Now fast forward 240 years. Over half the population has attended some college, and nearly everyone now has access to the greatest source of information ever created: the internet. That system is of course flawed and contains many falsehoods, but it also holds the truth for those who know how to find it. There is no excuse for us anymore. We as a nation deserve true democracy, not a system that can allow the loser to win.
