Sexual orientation and gender identity may be protected in many states but so is someone using religion as a means to promote prejudices. How many states have adopted both types of laws to protect people? Which one trumps the other? Sexual orientation or identity don’t limit people from interacting with others on a regular basis but religion is used as a means to withhold services by many who would claim, “its against my religion.” If your religion limits you from doing your job then you need to find another job. Funny thing... I grew up as a Christian and there are no such limitations except creeds made by churches. I live in a state that’s far more progressive. People can practice their religion and live side-by-side with others who’s gender identity and sexual orientation is not the same. If we nit-pick all the things we don’t like about people... we will eventually be totally and utterly alone. No two people are alike nor will be like everyone but we must look beyond these things to the bigger picture, what our government is doing in our name.
