This won't do anything, but I'm in favor of it. I wasn't familiar with simple resolutions until reading about this one. This just seems like petty politics; it has no teeth because it isn't law, and it requires the president to discredit more favorable stories if they don't provide supporting evidence or sources. Something I doubt he'd do willingly. All that being said, I think the president, really all civil servants, should be expected to support honest news. The simple resolution is divisive and probably won't be followed by the president... but the House should pass it anyway, because everyone should want to set this minimum expectation of their government.
