This would be absolutely foolish. The need for the EPA is only greater today than it was at its inception. There is no other mechanism we have to coordinate large-scale environmental efforts that are essential to safeguarding our lands. As with any governmental agency, it needs careful stewardship and oversight of its actions versus its mission, which is what we should really focus on, not whether the existence of such a body is necessary. History has already shown us the world without environmental safeguards - how naive are we to think it would be different today once those safeguards are removed? Protecting the environment and fighting the threats of climate change are the most critical and pervasive challenges we face today. We need the EPA to be as effective as possible and it deserves more of our support, not less.
