This resolution would recognize November 2015 as National Native American Heritage Month and the Friday after Thanksgiving as Native American Heritage Day. Congress has observed a Native American Heritage Day on the day after Thanksgiving each year since 2008, and Native American Heritage Month since 1990.

It urges the American people to observe both the day and month honoring Native American contributions to U.S. history with appropriate programs and activities. Further, it recognizes the efforts by Native Americans to preserve their culture, while also contributing greatly to American society at large in numerous fields.
