In my past employment I learned and taught others that “just because we’ve always done it *this* way doesn’t mean it’s the right way” and “doing the same thing over and over expecting the same result and seeing little or no change is madness.”
Acknowledging the efforts of and the work accomplished by the ‘war’ on poverty, I believe there is room for new approaches to poverty to be developed and explored.
If that can be done without compromising existing support programs, facilitating the hoped for change in people’s lives, then I would support monies being allocated to fund pilot programs that approach the problems of poverty and precarity from other angles.
