The people, if they can be identified, that are descendants of slaves are hurt emotionally for something that once happened. But they are not the first, second, or even third generation from these people. Also not all African-Americans are descendents of slaves! What about the possible descendants of the first slave owner in America, who was black? There is no way to repair the harm done by offering money. It is possible to give a public apology, and to setup memorials to those who were slaves. But no money should be offered. The moment we try to pay people to bandage their hurts, there will be a backlash that will hurt everyone even deeper than the past crimes that have been committed.
