I support broader immigration policies, but this goes beyond that. Apart from ideals, this is also a question of funds and prioritization of resources -- if you are against "big government," you should oppose this bill. Many cities' law enforcements have better ways to spend their time combating real crime, rather than chasing down undocumented people minding their own business. Also, undocumented communities in non-sanctuary cities are much less likely to call the police when crimes happen, which contributes to lawlessness overall. These cities seem to know what they're doing when it comes to managing their own police forces, especially as crime rates have fallen, and we should let them allocate their police forces as they see fit. Additionally, I fear that this kind of bill may well cause increased civil disorder, and possibly even give fuel to secession movements.
