lets call it voting day and Yes, how can something so important be any other way. Looking at other comments, I am not sure I understand those that say “no” and reason that no is appropriate because we are a Republic, not a Democracy. Many cite Federalist #10. The argument there distinguishes a republic vs. a pure Democracy (also called a direct democracy) where popular vote decides all matters. We do not have and never have had a pure democracy and you would have to have dementia to think so. Historically, other founding fathers use the term “representative democracy” or just democracy interchangeably with republic and rightfully so, there definitions are near the same and both apply. We are both a republic and a representational democracy. Both are accurate. In addition, since everyone knows we are not a pure democracy, I don’t get the point. Which brings us back to the beginning, if you call it a republic or a democracy you still vote for people to represent you, so allow the people to vote!
