While I do like the idea here (corporate bigwigs have been getting richer while the rank and file fight to stay afloat), I would need to see extensive studies on the impact here. The corporation issued the stock, somebody bought it, and now the corporation wants to buy it back. In any other sales transaction (let’s say a car, for example), that seems straightforward and something that shouldn’t be messed with. However, the world of stocks and investments, with its fleeting blips of money bouncing from account to account, is far more complex. Too many loopholes exist for the wealthy with access to get wealthier without the average person even knowing what hit them. The intent here is good, but maybe closing more loopholes would be better. Also, transaction taxes would be good. We pay taxes on everything we buy - why not stock?
