We are now in the grip of a pandemic, and our economy is on life support. In these times the service of the USPS is more critical than ever, and under more threat than ever. We need to fully fund and protect this service. For letters and documents the USPS transports at less than one tenth of the cost of commercial services, and does so in a timely fashion. If it is reduced or privatized the impact on our citizens and business would be catastrophic at any time. In the current crisis it may be the final straw that permanently breaks out economy.
