I am very disappointed and dismayed that most House Republicans voted not to fund and re-open the Agencies impacted by the current shutdown. Is it not the primary responsibility of our representatives to ensure effective administration of government? Is it not essential - as well as humane - to pay those workers who are required to work despite lack of funding? This is even more critical in view of the outrageously irresponsible statements of Mr Trump, threatening to maintain the shutdown for months or years. If I were one of those federal workers, my top priority now would be to find another job before my family became destitute. So no IRS or Social Security support, no Air Traffic Controllers, no TSA, no ability for entrepreneurs to register new businesses, no Coastguard..... Is that any way to run a country? If we want to make America great, we first need to make it good, and functional. Please, Congress, do everything in your power to end this stupid and dangerous shutdown, and get America back to work. That is vastly more important than some silly and ineffective wall.
