Our federal employee wages have been frozen for over a decade. Our salaries as federal employees are not keeping up with the rising cost of goods, services, housing, healthcare, education, food, gas, and daycare. If the American people and government want the best and brightest working for them in public services, then they have to make it financially feasible for us to do so. Otherwise, we will go work in the private sector where we can make double. Plus, we do not have paid maternity leave of any kind. We do not have pensions anymore. We do not have great benefits and our pay is stagnant. A 1.9% raise is nothing compared to the astronomical rise in housing, goods, and services. We are held hostage each time there is a government shutdown, yet we must remain apolitical. A 3.6% raise would definitely help federal employees maintain a middle class existence in America and retain good federal employees.
