Go back to the drawing board and come up with something that will not take medication away from chronic pain patients! I am chronically ill with extreme chronic pain. My only crime was being born with the wrong genetics. I was born with a genetic condition that causes me to dislocate several joints many times a day (among several other issues including, but not limited to, pelvic disfunction, tearing skin, dystautonomia, etc...). Imagine living your life like that! My Dr fears for me not just as a patient who suffers several injuries a day, but as a human that will not get pain relief I desperatly need to maintain my active lifestyle as a single mom wroth chronically ill chosen. It is extremely dangerous for my condition to under treat the pain because cringing in pain can literally cause me to suffer ruptures of my organs. I understand that it is hard to imagine living life like that or to even phathom how someone like me can possibly be happy in life, but because of my medication I have been able to be an active human and extremely happy in my life. I'm a mom of 3 amazing sons who are star students and athletes even in the face of their illness. I'm a daughter, a friend, a suport group leader, a sister, and a partner. I'm educated and continuously researching better ways to live. I practice yoga, meditating, healthy lifestyle...in short...if you do not know I'm on pain medication because of being in my life personally and seeing the times the pain is not effectively in control...you would never suspect me of being anything but the 30 something girl dashing into the whole foods store to grab a healthy dinner for her chronically ill children. Take a minute and really think who you are attacking here. Your war on drugs has turned into a nightmare for chronic pain patients and their families. Maybe you can't empathise with my plight, but surely you could imagine for a minute (I'm worth at least a minute of your time). What if I was your daughter? Would you not want me to have a chance at living my life to the fullest given the hand I've been dealt? Someday pain does effect us all or someone we love. Are you ready to pay the high price of having your life stripped from you (or your loved one)when you (or they)could still have quality with the pain, for the actions you are taking now. PLEASE stop for a minute and think! You are wrong if you support this madness (and it could be debated cruel). When something that causes pain strikes your life, I pray for you that you don't have to go through this hell that is being inflicted on the chronic pain patients now because of the false information, stereo typing, and money driven greed. Thank you for your time.
