As always, the Bill's name alone demands a "yea" vote. But, as usual, the Bill doesn't really do what it's name implies. It simply piles on additional regulations to require more reporting. The VA's biggest problems in helping our veterans get the healthcare they need and deserve are time and staffing. While on the surface, this Bill may appear to address those problems, it simply adds more regulatory requirements, which will rob staff of time that could otherwise be used more productively to serve the vets. Yes, just as in every profession, there will always be freeloaders. But my experience has been that the vast majority of staff at my Veterans Health center are truly dedicated to serving the veterans to the highest degree possible. Disclaimer: I am a veteran, and I am the spouse of a hard-working, dedicated Triage and Palliative Care RN at my local Veterans Health Center.
