Allowing those that are mentally ill to buy & own firearms is completely outrageous .. I do understand there are some exceptions where a person who is deemed mentally ill should be allowed to own a firearm, but abolishing this law is going to cause far more problems than it will solve. The safety & well-being of the majority of American citizens should be put before the individual rights of a few Americans that become caught within the "grey area" of this bill. Yes, the second amendment states that everyone has a right to keep & bear arms and these rights should not be infringed upon.. UNLESS the right itself poses an undeniable threat to the life, liberty, & pursuit of happiness of other citizens-- "rights given to us by our creator, in which governments are created to protect"-- as stated in the Declaration of Independence. History has illustrated that those who are mentally ill have a significantly increased risk of carrying out terrorist attacks and mass shootings. The imminent threat posed by those who are mentally ill & armed with a firearm infringes upon ALL citizens' unalienable rights, which the government should be protecting, not making vulnerable to real, looming dangers.
