Yes, while the program may have its problems and restructuring is needed to make it more effective; individuals with legitimate needs should be assisted to some degree. Included in this grant should be the assistance of social workers who can help individuals with needs to seek and acquire sustainable work in order that they are not permanently on a assistance. That should be a goal. To note again, individuals who are eligible should be screened to effectively be determined they are eligible for assistance. Any individuals found to be abusing the system should be prosecuted, ordered to pay restitution, and possibly serve jail time. Any time individuals try to bilk and cheat the government, insurance, and healthcare benefits are sometimes part of the cause of healthcare costs and insurance premiums increasing. Taxpayers end up paying the price many times over because of those who steal and take wrong advantage of entities who are legitimately trying to work with and help individuals who are struggling financially or do not have an income.
