Even though my state's senators and representative voted against this measure, I would like to thank all the others who did vote in favor. My 52 year old son is a victim of this type of fraudulent activity as in his last year he did not have a certified instructor for one full semester yet the entire class was told not to worry as they would all graduate regardless. Today, 32 some years after the fact, the IRS is taking his tax return for payment of an education he hasn't used on account of being unable to find employment in his chosen field. To make matters even worse, they do not notify him of the balance due as the student loan still applies interest rates to the principle. I've been trying to get him to contact someone on this matter but he is uncertain of the results. As my only child, as well as my "care giver" (I lost my vocal cords to cancer 5 years ago and have COPD) he is my only assistance with care of my limitations. It is hard to make ends meet on $800 a month for me. He needs this type of deferral which will allow him peace of mind.
