The argument that gun legislation should not be enacted "because criminals don't follow the law anyway" is asinine, and, frankly, not good enough. Should we repeal laws against theft and murder and drunk driving and tax evasion because people will still do those things? No. We should continue to pass laws for the protection of our citizens, and punish to the full extent of those laws anyone found to be breaking them. That's how we improve. That's how we move forward as a society.
