I agree, but this is a two edged sword. The Cox investigation of Nixon uncovered illegal acts and a coverup.
The Starr investigation was over “Whitewater” and found no evidence of wrong doing ( keep in mind that Justice Kavanaugh was a primary on the Clinton investigation), and was wrapped up until the Lewinsky matter surfaced. Ken Starr and his team, which was compiled almost entirely of lawyers from the opposing party, went on a witch hunt. Even Kavanaugh admitted as much in his testimony.
Justice Kavanaugh and Ken Starr went to extreme lengths to politicize the Lewinsky investigation including sordid details that were not needed to prove their case, thus going from a legitimate investigation of the Whitewater Land deal to a political hit job. Now we have Muller, a highly respected Republican, investigating on several matters: collusion with a foreign government, fraud, violation of election law and obstruction of justice, but we are being told that “we the people” May never see the whole report. We need to have a special council, but there needs to be a way to insure that it is fair and independent of politics. And all material from the investigation should be made public, just as it was for Nixon and Clinton probes- no redactions.
