All legislative positions are temporary and should NEVER be considered as that persons full-time job for 20+ years. Since there are no term limits (YET!), then these "representatives" make their posts their mission rather than the temporary public service positions that they are! I'm fine with a paycheck while they are in office as long as it is commensurate with the "job". But providing any benefits outside of that persons tenure is ridiculous! That's what their true full-time job is for. Providing life time, and life altering, perks for a truly temporary position then becomes the motivating force to be a congressman, and not the one for which they were elected: represent your constituency.
