Those convicted of felonies are ALREADY prohibited from owning or buying firearms, regardless of whether the felonious offense was violent or drug related. This bill does absolutely nothing to reduce the kinds of gun crimes we have seen. Further, gun crimes (murder rates) are actually down overall over the past two decades. So it is untrue to claim that we have an epidemic of gun violence, which is the basis for the supposed need for this bill. Finally, if the government can violate your constitutional rights related to firearms, what other rights will they violate in the future because you are suspected of some other "crime?"
