I don't see any reason why assault weapons should be owned by the public. Other weapons I understand for hunting and elf defense purposes, but assault rifles? There is no reason in my opinion they should be readily available to the public. While mass murders can still happen without them, the murder is significantly slowed down, reducing death tolls. Mass shootings can also be reduced here by expanding the range of background checks, and making it harder to by pass them altogether. I don't see how it infringes on gun owners rights, it restricts the use of a DEADLY weapon. Guns and their ability has grown since the second amendment has been implemented. The U.S. needs to react to this growth in order to protect innocent people, but still allow the use of guns, to an extent.
