A lot of parents love their children more than anything else and would practically do anything for them. I do not see a reason as to why they shouldn't have these rights. At the same time over the children themselves need certain protections from abuse and negligence; and I also believe that once at a certain age they need to be able to determine what is best for them themselves. Believe me I can relate my father was quite cold and inconsiderate when I was younger and he still is today. Had the court not intervened and took away his physical custody, I might not be here to tell my story and things would have gone quite differently. I say if your going to give the parents their own rights to raise their children, then their children also need rights to protect them from abuse, negligence, and unnecessary harm as well as once they turn eighteen years to be able make decisions about their health, life, political and religious views, education, relationship status, residency, and employment on their own. I think this bill is a good idea, but it needs some work and the children, if this bill passes will need some protection to prevent mistreatment and guarantee them certain rights once their old enough.
