Yes, as with all aspects of the Iranian government, they should be sanctioned into collapse and state failure. I'm not necessarily a neocon who believes in state building and that we ought to interfere, however the western world should stand against theocracy as much as it did communism 30 years ago and back. Like communism, theocracy is by its very nature strictly authoritarian at best and totalitarian at worst. Attached to an Nazi-esque state devotion to Shi'a Islam, the government is quietly rejected by their people and when polled about it, they are forced to lie. Unlike with Iraq, where we attacked with bombs and bullets, we should attack with sanctions, embargoes and the like. They, unlike several of the countries that have had revolutions over the past few years, could definitely be more successful than the others because whereas they turned to theocratic leanings, Iran has gone through that, and whereas secular authoritarianism can evolve into something democratic, it is much, much harder to be done under democracy.
