It's time to stop the opioid hysteria and look at the real issue. We have an Addiction Epidemic. Substance Abusers will always find a drug to abuse. All this Bill does is hurt chronic pain patients; all patients who need pain medicine. By eliminating one drug when another is approved you deprive patients and their prescribing doctors from choice! Not all people respond to the same medicine as others. What works for one may not work for another. Also, in pain management there is a practice called opioid rotation: when a chronic pain patient has been on the same opioid for a long time, sometimes it becomes less effective. Instead of raising the dosage, often switching the patient to a different opioid will be more effective. Therefore, this Bill will eliminate many choices the doctor has. The witch hunt and demonizing of opioids has to stop! If Senator Manchin was truly interested in Bills that will help his constituents, not a popularity contest, he would do his research! His Bills only effect chronic pain patients negatively and do nothing to stem the tide of overdose deaths in his state!
