By the time kids reach high school, the influence of peers is surpassing that of parents. (Yes, the early years are critical and the majority of morals and values are shaped at home). For many reasons, neither "good" nor "bad," many kids will not or cannot have these discussions at home. Certainly they aren't happening in homes with violence (verbal, emotional, physical or sexual). I think it's critical for our youth to hear information about staying safe how to find safety if they find themselves in a hostile relationship.
