If you believe a higher minimum wage is good just check out the effects in Washington and Seattle where companies have to eliminate jobs in order to pay more. Besides that I do think it is possible to live off a 7.25 minimum wage job. I am a college student and I also work part time. Fortunately I don't have to pay for school but I do pay for all my living expenses, car, and anything else extra I may want or need. I work in retail and began on minimum wage and even with part-time hrs. I still made enough to live a decent lifestyle and had a little extra if I wanted to go out or shop. I wouldn't be able to support a child or family with that job but I didn't need to and again I was only working part time. After a few months though I was promoted and received a raise. And in fact many minimum wage jobs do have opportunities to advance and earn more. Minimum wage is really just a starting wage not a permanent living wage.
