It may seem like a small and insignificant thing, but the words we use create the context within which we choose to live. E.g. Which would you rather be, "disabled" or "challenged"? One is disempowering, the other empowering. The same goes for racial descriptions. Better yet, it would be nice if we didn't have to identify which ethnic group we belong to at all; it would be nice if we could all just tick the box for "American". (Sigh) But, in the meantime, baby steps...baby steps.
