Should References to "Husbands" and "Wives" be Changed to “Spouses” In Federal Law?

Usually I would say no, because the way that people are labeled shouldn't mean anything. But with the emergence of the LGBTQ community, "spouses" would cover all of the masses no matter whom it may be and what kind of relationship they are in.
