If the federal background checks imposed on foreign refugees is "good enough", so should this current system. More importantly, broadening the background checks on people purchasing guns only tightens the iron grip that the federal government has on the people. This would just be a stepping stone to further restricting law abiding citizens. Although I am not an expert and have not spent extensive amounts researching this, I would be interested to see enhanced background checks on criminals who committed gun crimes. I have a strong feeling that the data will not be heavily in the favor of imposing a higher level of investigation.
