The income cap has needed to be raised for sometime. Those at the top end receive more each month while paying nothing on what for many of them is less than half their salary. In the meantime those on the lower end of the income ladder pay on 100% of their pay and receive less at retirement. Many of those people live on less than $800 a month. In today's world that is genuinely poverty. Raising the age before people can even get that to 70 or 72 pretty much ensures that lower income people stand a better chance of dying before they can collect anything. As we have seen with health care lower income people do not have the funds to get proper health care and live shorter lives due to that.
