This bill doesn’t take elections away from the state. It requires states to have backup plans in the event of a catastrophic event like we are currently living through. I believe it is imperative that every state and jurisdiction have a contingency plan for just such occasion.
Here in Maryland, the State Board of Elections has been scrambling—and failing—to come up with adequate solutions on the fly to both preserve our right to vote while ensuring our health and safety. Had such a measure as this been enacted previously, the people of Maryland would not be experiencing this uncertainty regarding our upcoming elections.
