There is "life" because it is a biological process, but it is not a human being. It is two cells at conception. If we're going to put this much effort into "protecting" a two-celled organism, then we need to reassess how we treat every other multicellular organism from the chickens raised in horrid conditions that we eat to the bryozoa and Rotifera we destroy when we treat water. This isn't about protecting unborn children or we'd focus more on providing a higher quality of life after they're born. This is about legislating morality and demonizing sexually active females by restricting their choices when it comes to unplanned or unwanted pregnancies. "Then give it up for adoption, there are lots of families who want babies." And inflate the over-500,000 child population in the American foster system that we already can't find homes for? It's slut-shaming at its core. People would do well to research the "bitter water" administered by priests and preachers in Genesis if they think this is a Biblically moral issue. Many abortions were induced by clergy in the name of affirming fidelity when a husband accused his wife if she drank a concoction of water mixed with the dusk swept from the nasty tabernacle floors and remained pregnant, then she was deemed faithful. If she drank the poisonous water and the baby was aborted, then she was found guilty of infidelity. The clergy were the original Planned Parenthood, apparently, aborting fetuses left and right in a Salem-style witch hunt that is the foundation for our sex-shaming culture.
