This bill sounds dumb. Military service medals are for actually doing something. We have medals for working with nuclear programs. We have medals for exemplary service within any program, to include nuclear weapons testing. I've been in the military for 22 years. I'm often surprised to find I have to attach another ribbon to my rack because I just happened to be somewhere at a certain time. I'm proud of the ribbons that represent something that I actually did. I may be dying from the burn pit fumes I inhaled in Afghanistan. Please don't give me a ribbon for that. Stop cheapening the military awards program. We should award actions.
