I've already addressed this with my legislators more than once, but just for the record let me say it again- No, No, No! This proposed replacement is a horrible idea and will hurt most those who need the help most. Shame on anyone who votes for this disastrous bill. I really like what Countable member Megan had to say on the issue and think it bears repeating- "What America needs is not a rich health
insurance sector (which essentially means that people are paying more
than they're receiving in benefits). Americans need healthcare, not
health insurance. Every single person is going to need medical
services, and it's ridiculous to buy insurance "just in case" for
something that is inevitable. People's access to healthcare should not
be depend on their income. It's a human right, and "market friendly
solutions" are not an appropriate way to provide this." A wise assessment indeed. (Thanks Megan!) Legislators, are you smart enough and fair-minded enough to listen? Or are your votes predetermined by the party line?
